Halloween Notions

1. The worst candy one can give out on Halloween is by far Circus Peanuts and Wax Lips.

2. The Halloween movie series should have ended with Halloween H20. I think the producers realized this, as there has been no attempt to add to the series after the mistake known as Halloween Resurrection. I like to pretend that the latter never existed.

3. Paranormal Activity 4 is inevitable. But how many more ways can the writers come up with means of capturing home footage before the whole concept just becomes absurd?

4. The 2008 series Fear Itself may not have been a smash hit, but I can say I have thoroughly enjoyed every episode and would recommend them all even.

And with that, Happy Halloween everybody! I stumbled across this video to celebrate (Note: This is not the same Fear Itself I spoke of earlier). To any guys reading this, don't be that guy. Watch the video and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Not All News is Bad News

I'm not one to read the news because I find it depressing, but when someone showed me this article I felt I should share it. It almost sounds like something I would do.

"VALLEJO, Calif. – A California man became stuck in a baby swing for about nine hours after a wager went horribly wrong, police said.

After making a $100 bet with friends, the 21 year old lubricated himself with laundry detergent and squeezed into the swing, the Times-Herald reported.

But the man became stuck, and his friends decided to leave him swinging in Blue Rock Springs Park overnight.

He was discovered when a groundskeeper heard screaming around 6:00 a.m. local time Saturday.

Firefighters freed the man by cutting the swing's chains. He was taken to a local hospital, where the baby seat was removed with a cast cutter.

The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries."

Ring Ring Ring

If this is not the greatest song ever made.... I don't know what is.... Enjoy!

Geeking Out with Google

To celebrate our 200th post, I decided to upload this picture of one of the coolest clocks I think I've ever seen.

I must admit that I was a bit confused by the "g" at first wondering how an acceleration of gravity of 32.2 feet per second squared had anything to do with the number 10. But then using what engineering has taught me over the last 5 years (quality education is what that is), I switched my brain over to SI units and rationalized that 9.81 m/s^2 rounded to the nearest whole number achieves the desired solution.

Vacations.

Are they worth it? Because packing and unpacking REALLY sucks. Especially when you're going camping, and you have to put up multiple tents, which then means you have to take multiple tents down.

Looking for a Good Werewolf Movie?

Finding a good werewolf movie is difficult as they are few and far between. I've seen my fair share of lycanthrope packed films, but I'm still convinced that only two are really worth watching: An American Werewolf in London and The Howling. Ironically, both of these films were released in 1981.

Trick? Or Treat?

I have been using Tootsie Rolls to motivate myself to finish a certain report. For every section of the report I complete, I reward myself with a savory, morsel of chocolatey goodness. So to answer the question posed in the title, I guess you could say it's a little bit of both.

Cretronome

The unexplained phenomena in which your car blinker clicks on par with the beat of the music playing through the stereo; essentially acting as a metronome. I felt inspired to write this after a similar incident happened to me once.

What Is Wrong With Me?

I've always seen myself as kind of heartless - and have been called it on occasion - but it would seem in the last month I have noticed myself fighting back the tears in a few instances (which is more than usual). And it hasn't been over things that I find sad - I deal with those types of situations well - but instead things in life I view as beautiful, whether they be humorous or not. Perhaps I just need to man up, but my latest fit was courtesy of this little video. I hope it's something most of you will enjoy.

TMNT

A guy at work says, "I wonder why Rafael hasn't called me back?!" So I respond, "He's mad at Donatello for eating all the pizza!" I WIN!!!

More NES Retro Cartoon Goodness

Introducing The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Despite having aired only one season, the show produced an uncanny 65 episodes in just 3 months. So why was the plug pulled early on this cartoon? I have a couple of theories. Please don't get me wrong though, I loved watching the show growing up, I just feel some things I could have done without.

Theory One:
The end credits. It was bad enough as kids that we had to endure a real life adaption of Mario and Luigi before and after each cartoon, but to give the music to the original Level 1-1 lyrics as the real life Mario pranced around...? The worst part apart about it is that I can't play the first Mario now without singing the stupid song.

Theory Two:
"Wellllllll excuse me Princess!" Every Friday the show would mix things up a bit and show a Zelda cartoon instead of Mario. This wouldn't have been such a problem if not for the infamous quote. Can you guess what it is? Used in the opening credits as well as at least 2 more times per episode, you could bank on hearing it at least once every 5 minutes. This video should give you a better perspective.

The Return of Hi-C Ecto Cooler

Yes, this was a real drink once upon a time. And no, it isn't available in your local market any longer. So you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled across the recipe on Nerdist (courtesy of the Chicago Ghostbuster Division). I've yet to test it out, but here is the recipe for you anyway (makes approximately 1 gallon):

3/4 cup orange juice (no pulp)
3/4 cup tangerine juice
1 packet orange Flavor-Aid
1 packet tangerine Flavor-Aid
1 spoonful Country Time powdered lemonade mix
1 3/4 cup sugar
Stir and add water
Add green (8-10 drops) and blue (4-5 drops) food coloring

And voilà! Now I've just got to scrounge up some change to buy the ingredients, so if you beat me to the punch (pun intended?), be sure to let me know how it tastes. Because the last time I had this stuff I was in a car seat headed for the zoo.

Retro Cartoon

Who remembers Captain N?

Captain N: The Game Master

This used to be my favorite cartoon growing up. Where have all the good shows gone?

Why?

I work in the Staffing industry. In short, I put people to work. Why, oh why, do people show up for an interview smelling like they just woke up, decided to eat the 3 week old rotten fish sitting on the counter, then spit some of it out, put it in their pocket, run half a block, then shart on the way in the door?

Amazing Feats

I didn't even know balloon animals such as these were even possible.

Going Up The Day After Yesterday Intsead Of Yesterday

Should I be worried? I think I may have inadvertently consumed a small portion of silicone. And no this is not a sexual innuendo of any kind. I was sealing cracks with silicone caulk for a lab project, and I may or may not have got a lot of it on my hands. I wiped what I could off with a paper towel, but forgot to wash them real good before eating some chips and licking my fingers. D'oh!

For my first post

I shall tell you that at my job, I take around 150-200 calls a day.

So do not be surprised/offended if I don't remember you. It's nothing personal.

Who Didn't Want To Be A Ninja Turtle Growing Up?

But is TMNT 2: The Arcade Game for the NES really the best Ninja Turtles game ever made? Although I would probably dispute that fact, Keith Apicary (aka Nathan Barnatt) does make some pretty interesting arguments to back such a claim in the following episode of Talking Classics (which is one of my favorite shows to watch on You Tube at the moment).

By the way. Did anyone else who watched this notice the My Pet Monster on the bed around the 3:45 mark?

Because I certainly did.

Off To The Races

The best part about playing Mario Kart with people that all wear glasses is the ability for everyone to take them off and go at it. Nothing quite like the blind racing one another for last place.

Top 10 Scary Movies

It is already October! As the leaves start falling and it gets ever closer to Halloween, I can't help but think about scary movies. So here is my list, and I'm not expecting everyone to agree with me. Now, these are not the scariest movies, but more or less a list of my favorites. Some are classics and some are modern, but there are no sequels (they are never as good as the first). So without further ado:

10. Scream

9. Texas Chainsaw Massacre

8. The Ring

7. The Shining

6. Nightmare On Elm Street

5. Session 9

4. Jaws

3. Dawn of the Dead

2. Friday the 13th

1. Halloween

Don't agree? Let me hear your top 10...

You've Got To Know Your Limits With A Boombox

I recently stumbled across this bad boy and am happy to say I am it's caretaker for the time being. It may look small from the picture, but the tape deck in the corner should give you a good idea as to the actual size (it does take 9 D-sized batteries to power the thing after all). I'm officially in the business of making mixtapes in case anyone may be interested.

Moar Brainz!!!

Everyone should remember this zombie from Season 1 of The Walking Dead right? I couldn't help but feel sorry for the pitiful monster. In lieu of my excitement for Season 2 which is just around the corner, I stumbled across these little gems below which I felt obliged to share with the world. If you haven't seen all six parts of this wepisode entitled "Torn Apart," I suggest you take the time to watch them soon. Who knows... You may just find out where that zombie pictured above came from...

Part 1 - "A New Day"

Part 2 - "Family Matters"

Part 3 - "Domestic Violence"

Part 4 - "Neighborly Advice"

Part 5 - "Step-Mother"

Part 6 - "Everything Dies"
