Top 10 Scary Movies

It is already October! As the leaves start falling and it gets ever closer to Halloween, I can't help but think about scary movies. So here is my list, and I'm not expecting everyone to agree with me. Now, these are not the scariest movies, but more or less a list of my favorites. Some are classics and some are modern, but there are no sequels (they are never as good as the first). So without further ado:

10. Scream

9. Texas Chainsaw Massacre

8. The Ring

7. The Shining

6. Nightmare On Elm Street

5. Session 9

4. Jaws

3. Dawn of the Dead

2. Friday the 13th

1. Halloween

Don't agree? Let me hear your top 10...

You included Session 9! Good choice! As far as sequels are concerned, not all of them are bad. In fact, I think I'd pick Friday the 13th Part II over it's predecessor. But no big deal. I'll be sure to write down my top 10 shortly, but you will have to give me time to think about it.

Okee doke! So many choices... But I think I've narrowed it down to:

Honorable Mention: The Evil Dead
10. The Lost Boys
9. House of Usher
8. The Changeling (1980)
7. An American Werewolf in London
6. Session 9
5. Psycho (1960)
4. The Orphanage
3. The Sixth Sense
2. Halloween
1. The Exorcist

As you said, all my choices aren't necessarily the scariest movies I've seen, but good Halloween movies. My number one is still the only movie though to this day that I haven't been able to watch all the way through because it gives me the heebee jeebees.

-Paranormal Acitivty
-The Haunting (1963)

Hahahahaha! Only you would put down ET. Glad to see too that I am not the only one who liked The Orphanage. There's a couple of movies on your list I haven't seen and may just have to check out as well.

If you get a chance to watch the Japanese version of The Grudge (aka... Ju-On), I suggest you do. Granted it has subtitles, but I thought it was scarier than the U.S. version.

Well subtitles didn't take away from The Orphanage, challenge accepted!

What ones haven't you seen though? I thought you'd seen all movies ever made... haha jokes!

I haven't seen what appears to be the original version of The Haunting or When A Stranger Calls Back. In fact, I don't even know if I've ever heard of the latter until I read it on your list. Maybe I'll meander on over to IMDB and check it out.

I checked out the trailer, and I take it back. I think I have seen the latter. Don't really remember what happens though... I guess that just leaves The Haunting.

Scratch that. Mixed up When A Stranger Calls Back with When A Stranger Calls. So my original reply stands. My bad.

Just know that I watched When A Stranger Calls Back when I was 12. It's like early 90's or something awesome like that. But my dad and I sat there watching it, and it ruined me from sleeping in the basement out of fear of someone looking like my wall.
